Man Charged with Sexual Assault of Minor in Richmond Hill
York Regional Police have charged a 53-year-old man in connection with the sexual assault of a minor in Richmond Hill, officials confirmed Wednesday.
Police say the investigation began after the suspect allegedly solicited the minor for sexual services on September 12. Authorities report that the suspect contacted the victim through a website and later met them in the Lake Wilcox area, where the assault allegedly took place.
Investigators have released an image of the suspect and warn that there may be additional victims. The man has been identified as Derek Wayne Brown, a Toronto resident who reportedly used the alias “Tyler” and the social media handle @donttnoone.
York Regional Police are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward. Tips can be submitted directly to the police department to aid in the ongoing investigation.
