Mississauga Intersection Crash Leaves Two Drivers Fighting for Their Lives
A devastating two-vehicle crash in Mississauga sent both drivers to a trauma centre with critical injuries late Saturday night.
The collision occurred around 9:40 p.m. at the busy intersection of Mavis Road and Eglinton Avenue West. Emergency crews responded quickly and transported a 57-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman, the drivers of the two involved vehicles, to hospital. Both remain in life-threatening condition, according to Peel Regional Police.
Following the crash, roads surrounding the intersection were closed for several hours overnight as investigators worked to determine the cause of the collision. Eastbound Eglinton Avenue West was shut down at Heatherleigh Avenue, and northbound Mavis Road was blocked at Huntington Ridge Drive.
All affected roads were reopened just before 11 a.m. on Sunday.
Police have not yet released details on what may have led to the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing.
