Two Employees of Hamilton Long-Term Care Home Arrested for Fraud

Hamilton Police have arrested two former employees of a local long-term care home for allegedly defrauding elderly residents. The suspects—a Registered Nurse and a Personal Support Worker—are facing multiple fraud-related charges after a months-long investigation by the Crimes Against Seniors Unit.

The investigation began after reports from the long-term care facility and families of the affected residents raised concerns. Authorities say the incidents occurred between January 2024 and February 2025 at a home located on Hamilton Mountain.

Romeo Grospe, a 44-year-old Personal Support Worker from Hamilton, is accused of depositing multiple cheques belonging to two elderly residents into his own bank account between January and October 2024. He now faces the following charges:
• Fraud over $5,000
• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
• Fraud under $5,000
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Jerick David, a 32-year-old Registered Nurse from Guelph, is alleged to have committed a similar offense in February 2025, when he deposited a resident’s cheque into his personal account. His charges include:
• Fraud under $5,000
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Both individuals were no longer employed at the facility at the time of their arrests on June 24 and 25, 2025. The College of Nurses of Ontario has been notified about the charges against David.
