ChatGPT Sent Them: TikTok’s Beaver Family Falls in Love with Guelph

Guelph became an unexpected viral travel destination after ChatGPT recommended it to the Beaver family — TikTok content creators from Fayetteville, Arkansas. The family asked ChatGPT for city suggestions similar to their hometown, and Guelph popped up. After posting about it on TikTok, the video blew up with over 695,000 views and countless Canadians encouraging them to visit.

The Beavers finally arrived over the Canada Day weekend and were warmly welcomed by locals, businesses, and city officials. Their visit included a downtown food tour, local farms, vibrant markets, and rich cultural history. They also met Guelph’s mayor and Green Party leader Mike Schreiner.

“What stood out to me was how much people love their community,” said Jeff Beaver.

Local businesses like Atmosphere Café said the exposure was a huge opportunity, while tourism leaders called it a heartwarming moment of connection between cultures.

“Go to Guelph. I’m loving it here,” said Amy Beaver. “I’ll tell all my friends: go to Guelph!”
