Health officials in Canada have issued an urgent recall of a popular imported treat Dubai brand Pistachio & Knafeh Milk Chocolate — due to potential Salmonella contamination.

The recall applies to 145-gram bars sold both online and in retail stores across Quebec. The affected product is marked with lot code 225.174 and UPC 611834512371. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency confirmed that a food safety investigation triggered the recall after testing identified the presence of Salmonella bacteria.

As of now, no illnesses have been reported, but consumers are being urged not to consume the chocolate and to either throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.

Salmonella can cause serious health problems, particularly in children, seniors, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, fever, stomach cramps, and diarrhea. Authorities warn that contaminated food may not look or smell spoiled.

The recall follows growing international scrutiny over the viral popularity of Dubai chocolates, which have recently trended across social media platforms.
