Fireworks Fully Banned in Brampton — Even on Canada Day

Brampton fireworks ban

As Canada Day approaches, Brampton residents are being reminded that all consumer fireworks remain strictly prohibited within the city. The City of Brampton has enforced a year-round ban that includes buying, selling, possessing, or setting off any type of fireworks—even during national holidays like July 1.

This ban extends to all public and private property. The only exception is handheld sparklers, which are permitted for personal use if handled responsibly. City officials say this by-law is part of an effort to reduce injuries, property damage, and noise complaints that have historically followed fireworks use.

Violating the fireworks by-law can come at a steep cost. Fines start at $500 for possession or unauthorized use and can increase to $1,000 for selling or refusing to comply with by-law officers. In more serious cases, where a court summons is issued, penalties may reach up to $100,000.

City-organized fireworks events are still allowed, and residents are encouraged to enjoy professionally managed displays offered by Brampton’s official Canada Day celebration instead of risking personal use.

By continuing this proactive stance, Brampton remains one of the few municipalities in Ontario with a complete fireworks ban—even during major holidays.
