16-Year-Old Arrested After Teen Stabbed at Barrie’s Waterfront on Canada Day

A 16-year-old boy has been charged after a stabbing incident during Canada Day celebrations at the Barrie waterfront.
The altercation occurred around 9 p.m. Tuesday near the basketball courts at Will Dwyer Park on Lakeshore Drive. A 17-year-old boy was injured in the incident and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have charged the accused with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and uttering threats. Both teens involved are residents of Barrie.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the incident — or who may have cell phone or dashcam footage — to contact police at 705-725-7025.
It’s currently unknown whether the two teens knew each other prior to the altercation.
