Air Canada passengers are once again bracing for possible turbulence, this time not in the air but at the bargaining table. Concerns are growing that flights could be disrupted again as tensions between the airline and its flight attendants remain unresolved.

Earlier this month, a mediated settlement brought a temporary end to strike action that had left more than 500,000 passengers stranded and forced the cancellation of over 600 flights per day at its peak. While operations have since resumed, union leaders argue that the agreement still fails to address critical concerns, particularly around unpaid work during boarding and deplaning.

Flight attendants say they deserve fair compensation for time spent assisting passengers before takeoff and after landing—work they describe as essential but undervalued. The union has not ruled out seeking a fresh strike mandate if negotiations fail to move forward, raising fears that travelers could once again see mass cancellations.

Air Canada, for its part, has maintained that it is committed to finding a long-term solution, but has not issued any new public statement about the possibility of further disruptions.

Industry experts warn that even the suggestion of renewed strike action is enough to shake passenger confidence. Airports in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal—the country’s busiest hubs—would likely see the greatest impact if talks collapse again.

For now, Air Canada flights are operating as scheduled. Passengers are being advised to stay alert, check flight status regularly, and remain flexible with travel plans until labor tensions are fully resolved.
