North York House Fire: Man in His 60s Dies, Firefighter Injured During Two-Alarm Blaze

A tragic fire broke out at a residential home in North York on Sunday afternoon, claiming the life of a man in his 60s and injuring a firefighter, Toronto police confirmed.

The incident occurred just before 4:00 p.m. in the area of Don Mills Road and Rochefort Drive, prompting a swift response from emergency crews. The fire, located in a townhouse, was quickly escalated to a two-alarm call due to its intensity.

Toronto Fire Services arrived on scene to battle the flames and search the property. Sadly, a man was found inside the home and was pronounced dead on scene. His identity has not been released, pending notification of his family.

One firefighter also sustained injuries while responding to the blaze. Paramedics were on-site to assess and treat the injured personnel, though the severity of the injuries has not been disclosed.
