More Than 80 Rounds Fired in Early Morning Downtown Hamilton Shooting Leaves Three Injured

Hamilton, ON – A major overnight shooting in downtown Hamilton sent shockwaves through the city this past Saturday, with more than 80 rounds fired and three individuals hospitalized.
Police say the incident unfolded near the intersection of Bowen Street and Jackson Street East around 1 a.m., following multiple reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered three people suffering from gunshot wounds — one of whom was rushed into surgery but is now reported to be in stable condition.
Investigators confirm that the scene bore evidence of an intense fire exchange: handguns and assault rifles were involved, and more than 80 spent casings of various calibres were recovered.
Described by investigators as a targeted attack, the scale of violence raised significant public safety concerns. “It’s a level of violence that is extreme,” remarked Detective Inspector Ben Thibodeau, noting the danger faced by bystanders in a typically busy area.
One of the victims was apprehended after a firearm was found in their possession — police indicate this individual is now facing potential charges.
