WATCH: Police Helicopter Hunts Down Suspect in Wild High-Speed Chase Near Barrie

A dramatic high-speed chase unfolded near Barrie last week as police, backed by an aerial unit, tracked down a fleeing suspect across rural roads and highways.
Footage released by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) shows a suspect vehicle speeding through Simcoe County, weaving through traffic and tearing across open fields in a desperate attempt to escape. The suspect, who was already wanted for a breach of bail conditions, refused to stop when officers attempted to pull him over.
The OPP helicopter captured the entire pursuit from above, tracking the vehicle’s reckless movements as ground units coordinated efforts to intercept. After an intense chase, the suspect eventually abandoned the car and fled on foot through a field — but didn’t get far.
Thanks to the coordination between air and ground units, officers were able to arrest the individual without injury. Charges are now pending and include dangerous driving, flight from police, and multiple breach offenses.

Police are reminding the public that fleeing from authorities only increases danger to everyone involved — and that advanced aerial surveillance like this ensures suspects will be found.
